We believe at the heart of all learning is curiosity; how do I? What would happen if I did? What are the steps I need to take to achieve this?
We are able to build strong problem-solving skills, by taking this approach this is why we encourage curiosity at every oppertunity, a large part of our program is based on what the young person would like to do and achieve which is why we enable the young person to have a strong degree of ownership over their program, in turn this generates individual buy-in and subsequently ensures a high rate of attendance.
What we do within the program is split 70/30, 70% of the program is upto the young person and acts as an opportunity to explore what they are curious about building: confidence, resilience and critical thinking skills. 30% of the program is designed by their coach, we embed within the program activities that encourage the development of skills for life and independence.
By operating in this way it allows us to come alongside the young person and explore the challenges that arise with the young person further facilitating behavioural flexibility.
Built into the program is a bespoke series of coaching sessions, which take place during the travel time to and from the activity; integrated into this is regular reflection, what went well? What needs to be revisited and the action required, by incorporating this into the day we are able to get feedback from the young person and gain an insight into their thoughts, feelings and reflections on the day.
The objectives of the coaching program are set by the young person and influenced by the outcome of key stakeholders, this is how we are able to support a young person with things such as: Anxiety, Self worth, Attendance in other settings.
Integrated into all sessions are goals and objectives from educational healthcare plans, progress towards the goals and objectives is captured within the Daily Sessional Feedback Log, the Session Log also contains:
